Great Power and Great Grace!
Acts 4:33, And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. NKJV
God knows that when great power is given to someone, great grace needs to accompany it. Lord Acton said, "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men." In other words, power goes naturally to our head not our heart, with great potential for harm. Access to great power without great grace to guide it can be deadly.
Everyone wants more power. What we should want is more grace to handle the power we have. If we prayed for more grace, God would give us more power. Grace is what we actually need.
We all appreciate that God is both powerful and gracious. But which are we most thankful for? That God is powerful, or that God is gracious? Grace wins easily. So, which would you rather be remembered for? Being powerful or being gracious? Again, grace wins easily. Therefore, pray for great grace in your life, and great power will surely come.
